It’s news to pretty much no one that turmeric is a powerhouse spice.

Research into curcumin, the chemical in turmeric that gives it its health superpowers,1 points to potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects2 and even possible “anticancer and neuroprotective activities.”3

Make a Jot Golden Latte to add curcumin to your diet

There are lots of ways to add turmeric to your diet, but one that’s especially delicious is the turmeric or golden latte, aka the golden milk latte.

With this recipe for a Jot Golden Latte using Ultra Coffee concentrate, you’re in control, so you get to decide how sweet you want it and how much spice to add.

One thing to note: the human body doesn’t absorb curcumin very efficiently, so if you want to make sure you’re getting the most bang for your buck health-wise, consider adding a little bit of black pepper to the mix.

As researchers Susan Hewlings and Douglas Kalman explain it, “Piperine, a known bioavailability enhancer, is the major active component of black pepper and is associated with an increase of 2000% in the bioavailability of curcumin.”

Which is why, in our Golden Latte recipe, we recommend adding a pinch of black pepper.

Aside from that, if you want to make your homemade golden milk latte vegan, go for it. Want to make it iced instead of hot, feel free. Just use simple syrup instead of honey and serve it over ice. Go nuts. You know us; we’re all about pure potential over here.

Here’s how to make a Jot Golden Latte using Ultra Coffee concentrate.

Jot Turmeric Golden Latte:

  • ½ tsp turmeric
  • ½ tsp ginger
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp black pepper (optional)
  • 1 tbsp Jot Ultra Coffee concentrate
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 8 oz hot milk (dairy or non-dairy)

Mix turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, and Jot Ultra Coffee together in a mug until well combined. (Optional: To increase your body’s ability to absorb the curcumin in turmeric, add black pepper. And, to make yours a vegan golden milk latte, try using light coconut milk or almond milk.)

Begin heating milk on the stove or in the microwave. While that’s going, add honey to the mixture and then add hot milk and stir until honey is fully dissolved.
