At our Jot HQ in Boulder, Colorado, we’re starting to get the occasional mild, sunny day, a tantalizing hint that spring – and iced coffee season – is on its way.
Of course then we’ll get a big dump of snow and 5° temps to remind us that, until then, winter is still in full effect.
The 5 essential winter drinks made with Ultra Coffee concentrate
Fortunately, we have a secret weapon for riding out a long, cold winter: Jot. When the snow refuses to melt and there seems to be no break from gray skies, we make ourselves a specialty coffee.
Here are our 5 favorite ways to cozy up with a hot cup this winter as we wait for the big thaw.
Jot Breve
- 1 tbsp Jot Ultra Coffee concentrate
- 4 oz hot half-and-half, lightly whipped
Sometimes you don’t have time to make something fancy but you still want to treat yourself. This is the perfect recipe for those times.
A classic breve is just a shot of espresso with a splash of silky foamed half-and-half. For this one, it’s even easier. Just one tablespoon of Ultra Coffee concentrate with hot frothed half-and-half. See our easy guide to frothing milk at home here.
Ultra Peppermint Mocha
- 8 oz milk
- 3 tbsp unsweetened chocolate
- 1 tbsp Jot Ultra Coffee concentrate
- 1–2 tbsp peppermint simple syrup
- whipped cream
- chocolate shavings for garnish
Peppermint-chocolate has got to be the official flavor combination of winter. If you can successfully dunk a candy cane into a hot cocoa without feeling waves of childlike joy, I’m not sure we can be friends.
That’s why, for our Jot Winter Menu, we created this delicious and festive Ultra Peppermint Mocha recipe. Get the full rundown here.
Jot Turmeric Golden Latte
- ½ tsp turmeric
- ½ tsp ginger
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- ¼ tsp black pepper (optional)
- 1 tbsp Jot Ultra Coffee concentrate
- 1 tbsp honey
- 8 oz hot milk (dairy or non-dairy)
Treating yourself to a specialty coffee doesn’t have to mean layering on the whipped cream.
Our Jot Turmeric Golden Latte is basically a curcumin supplement in a cup. It pairs the natural antioxidant boost of turmeric with black pepper, helping the body make better use of the spice’s nutrients – but without compromising the rich, warm flavor.

Jot Caramel Macchiato
- 8 oz milk (any type, dairy or non-dairy)
- 1 tbsp vanilla syrup (or to taste)
- 1 tbsp Ultra Coffee concentrate
- Caramel sauce, to drizzle
Caramel is an instant bad-mood eliminator. That’s just a fact. With this recipe, you can have the pick-me-up of a rich, creamy caramel macchiato in an instant, skipping the chain coffee drive-thru and saving yourself time, hassle, and a few bucks.
And with Ultra Coffee concentrate, it’s a breeze to make. You don’t need an espresso machine or a moka pot, you just need a tablespoon of Jot. Get the full how-to here.
Irish Ultra Coffee
- 7oz hot water
- 1 tbsp Jot
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 3 tbsp Irish whiskey
- heavy cream, slightly whipped
At Jot, when winter starts really dragging and you’re not sure if you can handle another arctic blast, we have our own special way of staying warm…one that’s just for the grown-ups.
This Jot Winter Menu recipe for an Irish Ultra Coffee is decadent, smooth…and thoroughly spiked. It makes a fantastic closer to a weekend brunch when the weather outside is frightful. Learn how to make it here.
Stay strong out there, friends; spring will be here soon. And if you just can't stop dreaming about being on a beach sipping something frosty, maybe give this a try.
